Reflexive was formed in Spring 2016 out of the digital strategy arm of iAcquire, an award-winning content marketing agency based in Phoenix, AZ. Our team encompasses years of experience designing and executing holistic digital strategies for an array of prominent national and global companies. Under the Reflexive name, we passionately continue to advance content-centric digital strategies, helping companies engage and re-engage with both shoppers and consumers throughout their interaction life-cycle.

About the Name…

Reflexive describes a relationship with both the cause and the effect affecting one another. Our approach is to discern and craft a strategy around how people search for and consume information, while simultaneously helping our clients to shape and influence how this search and consumption occurs. Ultimately, we seek to help our clients shape the world that shapes all of us.

TOM RUSLING

Founder, Managing Director

Tom’s 15 years of professional digital marketing experience include roles as a marketing director (SkyAuction.com), consultant, and digital agency executive. Tom built and led agency search marketing service teams for Matomy Media Group, as well as a five-year tenure as EVP of Agency Operations at iAcquire, where he led a small digital marketing upstart into an award-winning ninety member content marketing agency. An award-winning scholar-athlete, Tom holds a BA in German Literature from Colgate University and an MBA in strategy and finance from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business, where he also served concurrently as the varsity men’s tennis assistant coach.

BILL VOLHEIN

VP of Technology

Bill has over 20 years of product development and leadership experience which includes developing and managing large-scale website and software development projects such as the 2000 Olympics, the U.S. Department of Education, Magento, USWeb, and ClearVoice.

Bill’s technical background is rooted in international digital & print media success. As a product team leader, Bill has transformed traditional newspaper companies into profitable online entities. From product development, to global CMS and ERP design, his online accomplishments are vast; the initial creator of the Child Nutrition Program for the U.S.D.A, UI developer for the Course Applicability System for the U.S. Department of Education, Online Director for Village Voice Media and their 17 online publications, VoicePlaces.com, and many more.

JOHN CARCUTT

VP of Strategy

John is an SEO industry veteran and recognized thought leader with 15+ years of expertise in both agency and in-house search engine optimization.  He is a regular speaker and teacher at the top national SEO and Social Media marketing conferences including SES, SMX, PubCon, and is a published author on the topic of SEO in iMedia, Search Engine Journal, and WebProNews. As an original pioneer of modern search optimization, John co-hosts one of the most popular search related radio shows online: the SEO 101 show at webmasterradio.fm.

His digital marketing, search and social media experience ranges from the largest Fortune 50 companies to local small businesses, and includes clients like Turner Broadcasting, The Miami Herald, Discover, Sandals & Beaches Resorts, Cotton Inc., The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The University of Alabama.

Working with large media giant Advance Publications, John directed the SEO and Social media efforts for their entire local media operation including 25 newspapers and 11 Major local News websites such as NJ.com, AL.com, NOLA.com, and Cleveland.com.

SAM INGRASSIA

VP of Development

Sam Ingrassia has over 12 years experience working in digital marketing based engineering and engineering leadership roles. Prior to joining Reflexive, Sam served as Director of Analytics/Technology at EliteSEM. Along with building software for search agencies, Sam has worked on the vendor side building large scale crawling systems, enterprise ETL pipelines, and an enterprise marketing attribution platform. Additionally, Sam has extensive experience with multi-channel attribution and has built campaign optimization software managing >$1MM in monthly spend. Sam’s software has been used by big brands, including: Jet.com, Yahoo!, Sleepy’s/Mattress Firm, and The Source.
